Autumn Days of Korean Culture 2013

This September, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea will once again
impress Sofia citizens with a bunch of stylish cultural events organized in celebration of the Korean Thanksgiving Day – Chuseok. Chuseok is one of the biggest and most important holidays in Korea on which Koreans, an agrarian people throughout most of history, gave thanks to their ancestors for the year’s harvest, and shared their abundance with family and friends. The tradition is followed till present day.


The Autumn Days of Korean Culture in celebration of Chuseok will be held in the period September 19 to 21 and incorporate a concert of the Vratsa Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of the Korean conductor Techeol No, the Korean piano player Kwang-Hun Lee and the oboist Ye-hyun Kim. Music lovers will also have a chance to applaud the performance of the soprano Kee-yung Yang at the festive concert in the Central Military Club featuring lively popular works by Western and Eastern composers. Korean movie fans will certainly find pleasure watching three contemporary Korean movies in Lumiere Cinema that touch upon life ordeals, challenges and human relations. A photo exhibition, Taekwondo and Korean traditional games demonstrations, national costume and Korean food presentation will supplement the cultural festivities.
The most ardent Hallu fans will enjoy the next edition of the K-Pop Festival Go to Korea, sponsored by the Korean Association in Bulgaria. The winner will get an airplane ticket to Korea.
The variety of events, all free of charge, will provide the Bulgarian people the opportunity to get to know and relish Korean unique traditional and voguish arts that have developed in the course of five thousand years.
The series of cultural events in celebration of Chuseok organized in the cultural center of Sofia, will bring the audience aesthetic pleasure, will enrich the language of art and encourage the development of Bulgarian-Korean cultural exchange.
