Our paintings in new directions

Genre: paintings
In the 20's Weimar Germany, the New Object movement was born - first in art as a reaction to the romantic quests of Expressionism, then in literature, music, architecture, and lifestyle itself.

It all came to a halt with the rising of Nazism, but the reflections of New Object are still easy to spot: in the 30s and 40s Bulgarian art also turns to modern lifestyle, genres such as still life, landscape and portraiture are becoming popular. We look at them at the Sofia City Art Gallery.
