Stanislav Pamukchiev

In his abstract paintings he incorporates ash, straw and pitch, and in vast spaces he hangs objects that you can almost get into.

Stanislav Pamukchiev graduated Fresco painting at the Art Academy, where today he is a professor of drawing - which does not mean, however, that he mostly works on his students. In fact, he is so productive that he's got more than 50 solo exhibitions in over 10 countries. Now we look at him not with his huge canvases or installations, but in new small drawings that are, for him, the "workplace of the first creative impulse" - in other words, this series has got us in the process and his head. If it sounds intimate, so is the purpose: "the act of drawing has the value of self-disclosure ... I draw to find out who I am."
