Words, images, places

The title of this exhibition is 140 years since Sofia was proclaimed the capital, so what better place for it than the city gallery.

Take it as a kind of historical walk that shows the faces of Sofia over the years - from what Konstantin Irechek wrote about being tainted with "mud to disbelief", to the enthusiasm between the two World wars, 1944 and beyond, to this day. That is why in the exhibition we look at canvases of people like Tsanko Lavrenov, Zlatyu Boyadzhiev and Tekla Alexieva, collected from various galleries in the country, and contemporary artists such as Lachezar Boyadzhiev, Nadezhda Oleg Lyakhova and Kiril Prashkov. In the meantime, the exhibition design is by Venelin Shurelov, there are photographs of old Sofia on the walls, and the gallery organizes almost a mini festival of events around the theme - in addition to an album dedicated to the city, there will be book presentations, lectures, music and more, for which we follow on sghg.bg.
