  • What we didn't know about... Bruce Dickinson

    1 August 2019

    text Nikola Shahpazov

They call him a Renaissance personality, and we agree with the definition. The Iron Maiden frontman is about to turn 61, but finds magical powers for world tours with the band and for piloting a passenger plane, writing books, fencing, and lately - spoken word performances. The latter is exactly why he arrives in Sofia on December 23rd.
  • What we didn't know about... John Cleese

text Kristina Yordanova photo Bob King

John Cleese himself, as a part of the comedy group Monty Python, is rarely serious. He is the first man, who said the word "sh*t" on British television and also the man who says goodbye to one of his best friends on a funeral with the word "f*ck". His attitude stays the same with his stand-up Last Time to See Me Before I Die, which comes here in September at the National Palace of Culture.

The best time of the Ancient Theater is now - when the Opera Open's bustling performances gather us until August 30th.It's worth it to go there for the opening on Saturday - on June 8 at 21:00 a gala concert with 3D visualizations turns the classic sound from the orchestra into a fire show. • Deeper into the sea

    25 April 2019

    text Violeta Ivanova

We've dived deep into our senses before - in an empty shop in a mall; in the dungeons of the National Palace of Culture; on a quiet concert that puts you on the edge of sleep in the Vertigo Tower. In the same buisness building there is already another show of the Sensory Theater called Mare Infinitum or Infinite Sea, which we entered well prepared and yet again we felt everything as deeply as we did the first time.
  • Play Me Again

    21 March 2019

text Violeta Ivanova photos Pavel Hristov

A theater that follows a clear structure and logic, but learns its script on the go? If you ever saw an impro show, the idea must be familiar to you. Now, however, we are throwing you in a quite similar but also very different universe - the one of the Playback format, built on the personal, small, big, funny, sad, shameful or even absurd real stories told by the audience.
  • Four weeks before the curtain

    24 January 2019

How quiet a theater room can be during a rehearsal I understand as I watch the two actress in front of me and I hear her shirt slide down her arm while she picks up a glass to her mouth. The two improvise with their backs to one another: each is searching for her own movements for the scene they will be together in in a moment. That they are already in a perfect sinc, I gather as without seeing one another, they each pick up their glass and with an air of complete concentration start balancing it on their forhead. We're in Sfumato theatre for the rehearseal of The same day - a play by Stefan Ivanov, directed by Columbian-born, USA-raised Estefania Fadul.

  • Alive Topography

    7 December 2017

    text Violeta Ivanova

Imagine an exhibition of huge abstract paintings that are created right then and there. Now imagine an atmospheric music concert that is best experienced if you're seated, still and silent. Now combine the two things in one and the image in your head will be very close to what's coming to Dom na kinoto next Thursday - with Japanese artist Akiko Nakayama and E.U.E.R.P.I.'s ambient-drone music.
