Anyone who dined from 2010 to 2015 in front of the TV with the spicy costume drama for the Crowley aristocrats and their servants anywhere in the Yorkshire province is now receiving a dessert - a syrupy sequel for the big screen by the same author (Julian Fellous) and with the same cast (with minor changes).

After the festive end of the series on New Year's Eve 1925, the film leaps forward in the fall of 1927, when the Downton mansion is bubbling with excitement and anxiety in preparation for the visit of King George V and Queen Mary (the grandfather and grandmother of today's Elizabeth II). It's pompous, absurd, and ridiculous, while romantic and class arrows still crumble like powdered sugar, and the television sensation is so intense that you almost feel the breaks for the ad block. This is probably what fans of the most heavily nominated non-American series in the Emmy Awards history are waiting for - yet again to feel in a living room with their famous thoroughbred Brits with little dirty secrets under the covers.
