The center of the dance: Kaori Ito

1 August 2019
Her most important goal is to make the invisible visible through dance. Kaori Ito, who was born in Japan but lives in Paris, shows feelings on stage, tells personal stories and always talks straight.

She makes the leap to choreography and contemporary dance from classical ballet, when it no longer manages to answer her questions, and has several performances with which she travels the world. Here she comes in One Dance Week in September for I dance because I don't trust words - a performance in which she invites her 71-year-old father, Hiroshi, a sculptor with no experience in dance, to try to connect with each other on stage. Whether they succeed, we listen to Kaori through a camera from New York, where she is visiting her brother, in a candid conversation about the train as home, humor as a connection and the beauty of being human on the stage.
