Philip Colbert

Philip Colbert

Genre: paintings, sculpture
We don't know whether lobster bites will be served at the opening (we doubt it, though). Why his first exhibition here is called Lobster Land, however, we can guess: the red animal is the alter ego of Philip Colbert, who finds a way to put it in many of his works.

Other trademarks of his are the fried egg and wearing bright costumes from his own collections under The Rodnik Band brand. The Brit (born in Scotland but living in London) also makes furniture and music, all of this being part of his philosophy that being a contemporary artist means spreading across many fields. Here he shows works in which we look for historical references, recognizable signs of the present, Colbert's commentary on consumerism and the darkness in life, and the reason why they compare him to Andy Warhol.
