Book Season
The blizzard opens a desire for reading, but there is another storm going on - around the holidays and the Book Fair, which you can catch at the National Palace of Culture until December 15, publishers print loads of strong new titles. -
Harry Potter and the seven Bulgarian editions
Egmont publishing house are giving Harry Potter a new illustrator for his birthday. At least that's how we interpret things - and it would look the same to you if you happened to love a book drawn by Lyuben Zidarov. -
Very short introduction to the meaning of things
You may have already met two new volumes in Bulgarian bookstores with exquisite faces and the same sign The Meaning of Things. With this name begins a new library - we unfold the long-written history, that actually starts translating some of the Very short introductions. -
Reading the past
If you loved a book as a child, you can even today pull it from the library in your head and read it. No need for this to happen only in your imagination - in our Kids blog, we talk about three classical Bulgarian books, recently reprinted. -
Summer spines
"Summer read" is a special term - it may be a cliché, but in fact it means something different to everyone. What is your pleasure in reading this season: the mind, the heart, the humor, the breathtaking plot of the books? What matters is not the genre, but the pressure on attention that needs to be accurate - so that the volume can be left for a few hours by the pool, but also more interesting than the noise of the waves. Here we bring out in the sun six good and new book bodies with which to go on holiday, and the topics are as diverse as your appetite - there is everything from a robot in love to a pre-Victorian biography. -

What we didn't know about... J. R. R. Tolkien
Everyone probably knows that the name behind the initials is John Ronald Reuel or the father of the hobbits and the whole mythology around them, which has led to a new age in the fantasy genre. But did you know that, apart from writing novels, Tolkien was also a poet, an Oxford professor, a philologist who invented many new languages (some used in his stories) and a great artist who illustrated his work brilliantly. If you're just finding some of these things out, wait till you see the biopic about him, entering cinemas this week.
