    18 December 2019

    photo Nenko Lazarov

Here's how to reach a high goal early in the year: this climb for Malyovitsa is for beginners, so the foreman, expert guide and ice cats (for the first 20 sign up) are among them. There will also be transportation, mountain insurance, and even action-packed photos waiting for you to wear thermal underwear, sunscreen, and a few more things on Facebook @AdventureTeamBulgaria. On January 4 for 80lv.
  • The Fastest Clock in the Universe

    18 December 2019

    photo Ivan Donchev

As in The Portrait of Dorian Gray, the character here also wants to remain eternally young. Cougar is celebrating his 19th birthday once again (otherwise he's 30), but party plans are failing when guests start arriving. Fear of living or leaving also seeps into us from the stage of Theater 199, where the performance pulls the curtains at 7.30pm on January 2.
  • Go for a Cabbage Juice

    18 December 2019

You don't need to oversleep your January again. Instead, Begach Club suggests that you open bit.ly/36KnbAx, sign up for their list today and at at noon after New Year's Eve, be in running shoes in front of their office (Evlogi and Hristo Georgiev 85) for the first run of 2020 in the Borisova garden. It won't be competitive, it's free and just for fun. And yes, there would be cabbage juice - if you are wondering otherwise, ask help@begach.com.
  • The Black Box + Absolut + Open Art Files

    21 December 2019

4 decent events on December 21st:

"The portrait is the most accurate unit of measure for the time that goes by," says photographer Phelia Barouh. We use this line not because we want to be fatal, but to remind you of the new opening of her black box - a project she sets up at various places with the invitation to save a slot (on +359 888 980 199) for a 40-minute solo or duo portrait photo shoot with her. Until December 22 it is in the KO-OP gallery and, by the way, it's a top idea for an early Christmas gift.

This time around it was more difficult for us to guess who was hiding behind the pixelated teaser poster for this party, but here's the secret no more: at 22:30 on December 21st, Desi Slava enters bar Petak with a kick. We know full well that not only popfolk can be poured from her strings, but what will she turn on the turntables at the bar? Let's see. If you're still wondering what the hell is going on, Absolut's new party series clashes cultures to make us more connected.

An "attempt to read the history of Bulgarian contemporary art" lies in these 224 pages, which we can take free of charge when they are presented at Generator on December 21 at 16:00. It is an exhibition catalog, which comes 3 months after the exposition of this name in Plovdiv.
  • Illustration Pop-Up Vol.2

    20 December 2019

Vol.1 of this pop-up showed us the brutal work of Shadowschaser, PXRN, Pllik and more amazing artists in an exhibition + sale. We have only today, December 20 left, to see Vol.2 at KO-OP gallery with the illustrations of a new portion of top artists: from Rozalina Burkova to Iva Dimitrova.
  • Copenhagen

    12 December 2019

The play by the British Michael Frein (who took Tony for dramaturgy) points to a meeting between two nuclear physicists at a time when the entire world is a time bomb. The rendezvous begins exactly at 7:30 pm on December 16 at the City Mark Art Center, where we watch the explosive incarnations of Rusi Chanev, Stefka Yanorova and Valentin Ganev.
  • Art for hotels and music for elevators

    19 December 2019

In his previous exhibition Ivan Mudov drew dots with a thin marker until he filled the canvas, and now he continues with the theme of the role of the artist and art. Art for hotels and music for elevators takes us in another direction - it discusses the choice of art for public places, which, instead of cultivating taste, "most often breeds poor quality". The exhibition shows previous works by Mudov as well. The opening is at 19:00 on December 19 at Structura gallery.
  • Christmas in The Neighbourhood

    12 December 2019

In the summer, in the area taking up Dondukov, Maria Louisa, Levski and Slivnitsa boulevards, under the flags of the KvARTal fest, we must have come across you at a concert or a walk in the streets. Now we are back for a Christmas edition that plans to be warm and sweet - with exhibitions, hot drinks, light bulbs, bazaars and goodies. They are still hiding their program, but we know they'll be there from December 13th to December 15th, and details will be posted on the Facebook event.
  • SIBI Talks: Women And Choices

    18 December 2019

For 2 years, See It Be It - a program of the Cannes Lions advertising festival - has been fighting in Bulgaria the gender imbalance of high career positions with a large forum and these regular small meetings with good local examples. On December 18, we listen to the personal stories of Dafina Dimitrova (who pushes forward the institutions in developing countries) and Margarita Dorovska (who runs the Museum of Humor and Satire in Gabrovo). From 18:30 at Missia23 with free admission.
  • Sofia Food Truck Fest

    12 December 2019

Put on your winter clothes on an empty stomach because the food truck festival will take you outside for a long time. According to the schedule, they first join Don't Waste, Taste by parking at Ivan Vazov next to the National Theater with a menu supplemented by a recipe for commonly discarded products. They'll be there on December 14 and 15 from 10:00 to 21:00, and the next day they move to the parking lot next to Street Chefs, where music and 10 trucks with cocktails await you until December 22.
  • Arai Tatsuru

    17 December 2019

This Japanese artist is able to brainwash you with just the trailer of his Quantum-ton (here below), and on December 17th at 21:30 he enters Amok with 30-40 minutes of the same thing at the invitation of Æther. This is an audio-video performance, part of his Hyper Serial Music series, which combines geometric visuals inspired by the nature of the universe with algorithmic sound created by artificial intelligence. The entrance is 7BGN.

  • Kinotochka + Melba Live + Book fair

    10 December 2019

3 decent events happening on December 10th:

The people behind Block Cinema this time turn to American feature and documentary cinema showing it for free at unusual locations. The screenings go with discussions about the topic of the film. The launch is on December 10, when we watch Score - a movie by Matt Schrader about movie music, and listen to a string quartet - from 19:30 at BNR's Studio 1 after claiming our spot on eventbrite.com.

    MELBA LIVE # 9
Studio Complekt is closing their year with another Melba live show - those sweet meetings with people from different fields of design who talk candidly and in detail about some of their best projects. On December 10th at 18:30 at Generator we listen for free about Poststudio's graphic design, 45 Street's hats and the little moments in Belronika's drawings.

While the 7th Literary Fest is running at the National Palace of Culture, his older brother, the 47th Book Fair, completes it with a huge expo from December 10 to December 15. 160+ publishers from here and around the world are participating, and along with the books that we can browse and buy, there's also meetings with authors and translators, premieres of new titles and children's literary events.
  • Francois-Henri Deserable

    13 December 2019

Little remains of this year's Literary Fest and Book Fair, currently running on the floors of the National Palace of Culture. Why you should visit it exactly today? At 19:00 in the Marble Lounge, a conversation with the hockey player turned writer Francois-Henri Deserable awaits you, in case our interview with him last week only ignited your appetite for his personality.

  • Italian Films Panorama

    5 December 2019

We catch up with the latest from Italian cinema, which is mostly comedic, but sometimes dramatic or biographical. Today is a very comedic day, in Odeon cinema we watch I Introduce You to Sofia, whose story turns into a game of hide and seek between children and adults, and A Matter of Taste in the House of Cinema, a story of a talented but quick-witted chef who takes on the task to prepare a boy named Guido for a culinary competition.
  • Clavexperience

    11 December 2019

In this trio, Pavel's vocals lurk with the beatboxes of Skiller and Dimitar Gorchakov's synths, so that we often do not distinguish their already made pieces from what was invented at the moment. Their mix of IDM, trip hop, jazz and reggae hits us again on December 11 at Maze and here We are turning the frontman's favorite inspirations before the concert.
  • Mish Mash + Absolut + Bogodome + Don't Waste, Taste

    7 December 2019

4 decent events on December 7th (some of which run throughout the weekend):

If you've just hung the Christmas stockings, here's a good way to start packing them with presents. The shopping festival announces that Christmas is coming!, collecting over 60 local brands of clothing, jewelry, accessories, cosmetics, interior products, books, toys, holiday cards and decoration in the Largo on December 7 and 8 (10:00-19:00). There will also be Christmas art workshops for the little ones, and for you - a chill zone with something to bite and drink.

Absolut starts this new party series that in the coming months will drop a total of 5 well-known faces behind the DJ consoles in places where we would otherwise never see these people. On December 7th at 23:00 Vol.1 comes with Rushi and a set of his favorite tracks, booming from the pop folk disco Club 33, and the idea is generally to stop the music from causing a split between us. Well, there will be absolute cocktails as well, of course.

It's not just another platform for enjoyable events. Bogodome wants to fuel the appetite for applied arts and traditional crafts with workshops where artists show amateurs how it's done. If your hands are itching to try, on December 7 Stanislava Ivanova teaches you to make Christmas candles, and on the 8th Eli Angelova shows calligraphy - all in the Malkite 5, 14:00-18:00, for 50/60BGN from sabitie.bg.

It's crazy that 1/3 of the world's food is thrown away instead of being eaten - not only because in the meantime some are starving, but this also causes environmental dramas. The Don’t Waste, Taste festival continues to tackle the problem on December 7th at 09:30 in Generator with lectures (for example on waste management in Sofia), discussions and lunch by Bozhana Katsarova, who will also give recipes with zero waste. Sign up here, it's free.

    8 December 2019

After familiarizing tourists with the intricacies and secrets of Sofia for years, the Free Sofia Tour and 365 Association explode with something new for both foreigners and locals, as long as they understand the language. #LOVESOFIA is a performance in English, evolved from Alexander Spatov's collection of stories about Sofia. For 20BGN on December 7 and 8 at 18:30 in Azaryan theater we are watching for the first time how 5 Sofia guides outline love in and for the city.
  • European Cinema Night

    6 December 2019

With an astounding debut for both the director and the actor in the lead role, the movie Girl was applauded all around Europe. The story is not convenient for everyone and that is why it is important to be seen: it's about a teenager who simultaneously struggles with the difficulties in ballet and with those around her transformation from boy to girl and hence to woman. You can watch the movie for free (with a pass from the ticket office of the cinema) at Dom na kinoto on December 6th at 19:00.
  • The magic of restoration

    5 December 2019

A year ago, for the first time, we talked about going into the secret workshops of Square 500 - with a ticket for the Magic of Restoration, an event that meets us with the doctors of the paintings. Their next event is about three Persian Qajar paintings from the museum fund - we are listening in the studio on December 5 from 5:00 pm for 10 BGN.
