• Debate

    27 November 2013

The attitude towards madness has suffered many metamorphoses in history: from blankly contemplation, it gradually became a condemnation, segregation and medicalization of madness, but most recently it turned also to acceptance, applause and even apology of insanity: "Long live the insane!" (the prayer of Marco from “Under the Yoke” novel by Ivan Vazov). Unlike "classical" medical conditions which are measurable, the physiological conditions within the Madness are significantly blurred and allow a number of medical, social and legal interpretations. The dynamics of these limits in liberal societies can be seen in two ways. On one hand more and more until yesterday "diagnoses" in need of treatment are seen as socially tolerable (acceptable and in some cases “courted”) “quirks” that are part of the uniqueness of the individual. On the other hand there is also the opposite trend: more and more "ailments of the spirit" (mental conditions such as anxiety, anger, fear, etc., regardless of their intensity) are treated as "cases in need of a new kind of treatment" known by various names but most commonly referred to psychotherapy. With the participation of Dr. Stoyan Stavrou, Antoaneta Koleva and Marieta Dimitrova. The debate is in Bulgarian, starts at 19:00 in Red House.

The active player then reveals these cards and chooses the Thing card that, in his opinion, best matches the Description card, which he awards to whoever played that Thing card. Each player has a secret personality with specific victory conditions, which means that you're not sure exactly what the other players need to do in order to win.  The action takes place on a map of Ankh-Morpork, with players trying to place minions and buildings through card play. Each of the 132 cards is unique, and "the cards bring the game to life as they include most of the famous characters that have appeared in the various books. The rules are relatively simple: Play a card and do what it says. Most cards have more than one action on them, and you can choose to do some or all of these actions. Some cards also allow you to play a second card, so you can chain actions.
