The game as a profession: Alexandre Laine

It's Friday at 5 in the afternoon when they record our names in order to let us in that inaccessible part of the Central Department Store, where this frenchman has been at home for several years. Alex Laine's office - that of the gaming company Gameloft - is already emptied of people for the weekend, so no one can see us staring at the consoles, pool tables, bright booths like those in American diners and a screen behind which they also have a movie theater.

That's the way it is in tech companies, but we know it's not all a party here - every new project means tons of work and a bit of sleep deprivation. We will hear about the essence of professions such as game developer, game tester or 3D artist from January 24 onwards from the lecturers of Sofia Game Jam Week - 10 days of valuable meetings and events for people with interest in the industry. As Gameloft's lead game designer and mobile game development guru at ARC Academy, Alex will be there as well.

Sofia Game Jam Week is at Sofia Tech Park, the French and Polish Institutes, V Parka event hall and Kino Kultura, 24 January - 2 February
