• Sealed in a bottle

    5 May 2016

We're singing this variation of Sting's song, while we're getting ready for Spring Wine Tasting in the middle of the month. The singer's name here isn't a coincidence - part of his personal cellar is coming to Bulgaria to say "goodbye" to it's corks in the name of the full glass of wine.

  • Come, Fool Us

    28 April 2016

When the pavement breaks under your feet, Lego people become soldiers, The Alien hitchikes, probably Leon Keer has passed on the street moments before you - a Dutch with a 3D paintbrush.
  • Market Values

    21 April 2016

We love bazaars not (only) for the shopping but because they shorten distances - since they exis, we've encountered, touched and tried a huge list of Bulgarian brands that really know what they're doing. At least 50 of them are coming to the green SoBazaar this weekend - we made this shortlist of 8 that we've never talked about before.
  • Little London

    21 April 2016

If we ever say "goodbye" to Bulgaria, we'll miss a thousand things and at least half of them live in the fridge. The same applies to British people who have exchanged London for Sofia, so, no surprise - there's now a place on Krakra street, where we can pay with lev for products priced in pound.
  • Five in the air

    21 April 2016

We are about to give them a high five for opening a new skate park in Sofia and excuse them for the trivial name, when we see the inversion. "Five high, because we're on the last floor and it's high", Rumen Gerasimov says, while we're searching for more quiet place in the creative riot around Culture Lab.
  • Fear and Craft in Sofia

    7 April 2016

Drinking one bottle of Flying Dog beer is never just having a cold beer. It's also a good way to become an art collector. How? Just take the label, made of Ralph Steadman. Yes, the same Steadman, who is Hunter Thompson's right hand.
  • Straight to the stars: Mathieu Bitton

    31 March 2016

    photo Keil Lowres

Photographer, art director, designer with a Grammy nomination, knight of the arts and letters in his country, France. He also works on soundtracks, directs movies, and photographs people from Mick Jagger to Lana del Rey. Today, we write emails with him because of his exposition with Lenny Kravitz - they both will show their photography. For the stories inside, for the best instant click on the streets of New York, and for the harsh, but needed advice from Quincy Jones, we talk through several time zones.
  • Breakfasts of champions

    2 March 2016

It's Friday, 8:20 in the morning, and the door of G8 Cultural Centre is opening and closing every 30 seconds. We're here not for early cinema, but for the Sofia edition of Creative Mornings - a meeting that's happening around the globe. For the fifth time, in our city as well.
  • Every day, yoga

    25 February 2016

Where is the place of yoga between the emails, the career and the everyday pulse of the city? Right here, in Santosha studio, so take a deep breath.
  • Snowkite: flying in winter

    11 February 2016

Written by: Vera Gotseva Photography: Milena Tzoneva

We talk with Atanas Rusev - a kitesurf instructor in summer, a snowkite enthusiast in winter.

Atanas Rusev is one of the bravest men I ever knew – a man with no social mask, who has discovered that the true freedom is to follow yourself and to become one with the nature. Most of the people know him for his efforts to preserve the virginity of the Bulgarian Coral Beach; others have been trained in kitesurfing by him, and third had courage enough to step into unexplored caves on the bottom of the Earth with him.
We will tell these stories some other time, but meanwhile Nasko lifts us up in the air with his snowkite, while the Vitosha plateau is still covered with snow.

  • Studio in a backpack: Kalin Nikolov

    11 February 2016

He's composing music for theater - he has two Askeer Awards and two Ikar Awards behind his back, and for the last year he's composed for six productions. We meet with him to talk about all that and why his studio is the smallest in the world.
  • The drinks from life: Dragomir Ivanov

    28 January 2016

For one of our most talented mixologist, the worst would be for us to like every cocktail that's on his mind - because it would mean he's not brave enough in his experimentation. Today, we sit with him and instead of tasting drinks, we have a few fast shots of stories - about his beginning as a barman, about his childhood memories and about a barbeque in Argentina.

Dark maze, a man's voice shouting instructions, deafening music and glowing people with plastic guns - this is not the plot of some surreal dream but a game that we're wondering why we discover so late.
  • Salmon vs. Duck

    26 November 2015

This is a serious battle but no worries - at the end both of them fall onto our plates. For lunch on Monday we're following two recipes taken from the Manchev vs. Shishkov cookbook and we discover not who's a better chef but how fun it is to cook and eat together.
  • The secret menu of Tsvetomir Nikolov

    26 November 2015

He's been in the kitchen of more places he can remember, and recently he even got into a truck - he's the chef behind Street Chefs. We meet with Tsvetomir to talk about food and use it a bit like a time machine - the main topic is it's ability to make us cry, laugh, and fall in love.
  • Blek Celebration

    19 November 2015

text Nikola Shahpazov, photos Sevda Semer

It's noon on Sunday when we stop in Gorna Banya where the Blek Pine duo is showing us (and a hundred more people) their first two kinds of craft beer. Between "Cheers" and "One more, please" we find the time to discuss homemade snacks, Christmas ale with pine needles and how two people can work like two hudred.
  • Full Throttle

    19 November 2015

    text Violeta Ivanova

Folding yourself in half to squeeze into a small car, so that you can crash into some dirty tires while holding a tiny steering wheel? We might be crazy but it's so much fun.
