Theatre play

The Odyssey and the Cyclops of Dublin - a heroic ode by James Joyce is a one-man show by actor Dimitar Markov on the passages of Episode 12 - The Cyclops of the Odyssey Novel.

In James Joyce's Odyssey novel, the wandering character is Leopold Bloom, a middle-aged advertising agent who survives his Odyssey in Dublin on a single day - June 16, 1904. He doesn't go home all day, because it is likely his wife is meeting her suitor there. At about five o'clock in the afternoon, Mr Bloom falls into the "Cyclops' lair" - Barney Kernan's tavern, where he is heroically and boldly pulled out of a dangerous life-threatening encounter with the titanic Irish gullet-pushing champion, known as Citizen, through whose eyes the story is told.
